The Most Motivating Way to Start Running
I hate to run. Plain and simple. I get that it is great cardiovascular exercise, it produces endorphin's, and you get to breathe fresh air. Blah, blah, blah…
I still don’t like it.
However, I have found the most motivating way to overcome this aversion, lace up my shoes and hit the pavement. It is just three Easy Steps:
First – Your Inspiration
Step one: Find one of the most beautiful and fit women on the planet. This is @mchavarriaot. She is charming, athletic, intelligent, and has a smile that can light up a room! She also likes running.
This was my inspiration.
Second – The Pursuit
Pursue her as she runs. Try not to be creepy about it. Keep up with her pace and do your best to not suck-air like the unfit and out-of-shape guy you really are! No need to try and outrun a fit girl. They know you are struggling. They find satisfaction in that. What they really want to know is how long you will stick it out. How much pain on your part, is she worth.
Be calm. Ignore the pain, pulled muscles, grinding joints, and burning chest. Focus on her. Talk about the weather and how you like to stay fit (by eating steak and drinking coffee). …Perhaps omit that last bit, but improvise. The faster she likes you, the sooner you can stop running.
That is your motivation.
Third – Catch Her!
Time to make her swoon. Find a nearby coffee shop (a place you can rest for a bit). Buy her coffee, chat, and win her over with your charm (as you recover from running).
Make her your future running partner (and perhaps girlfriend). I guarantee running won’t seem so bad with a beautiful companion next to you.
This worked for me! Now I have a stunning and charming running partner that I enjoy following on a short run (mostly to Starbucks where we rest, talk, and drink coffee).
Check out @mchavarriaot’s blog on how she began running. It is much more inspiring than my story.
Happy trails and may your shoelaces never get tangled.
