A Day in the Amazing Zoological and Botanical Garden in Pilsen Czechia......A Picture Travel through the Zoo...27 Pictures
In 2010 I spent a wonderful day with my Family in the Zoological and Botanical Gardens in Pilsen Czechia. It was a great Experience for the Whole Family.
The Pilsen Zoological Garden was opened in 1926, making it the second-oldest zoo in the Czech Republic. At first he found himself elsewhere; he was only small. In 1961, the botanical garden was founded in the city district of Lochotin, in 1963 the zoo moved into the immediate neighborhood, until then in 1981 both gardens united. The present area is 21 ha. In addition, since the sixties the independent aqua-terra (Akva-Tera) in the town center is part of the Pilsen Zoo and exhibits reptiles, amphibians, fish and invertebrates.
Some of the most interesting animals in the zoo are tank capers, Sudan cheetahs, dwarf hippos, Komodo warriors, giant turtles, lemurs, chimpanzees, giraffes, tigers, snow ectops, penguins and many others.
Successful breeds were found among other things in spur turtles, stump crocodiles, many reptiles and in smaller mammals such as marmosets and lemurs. The Pilsen Zoo holds about 45 species of animals covered by the European Conservation Breeding Program (EEP) and is responsible for the management of the European Gray Foxes and Greywatches (both are semi-monkeys / lemurs).
In the history of the zoo, the polar bear, the American black bear, the potato and plumplori, opossums, pouches, gazelles, Hindus tigers, North American catfloods, rhinoleguans, Galapagos giant tortoises and a total of 15 crocodiles were kept. Czech first breeders were at Brillenkaiman, Saigas, Big Anaconda and also Chileflamingos, which became the logo of the zoo. Ozelot breeders, snow owls and streak hyenas also existed in the past.
Animals and plants are not exhibited separately, but are shown as closely as possible, including geology and paleontology, so that the visitor gets a complete idea of the happenings in nature.
Among the most interesting institutions of recent years are new houses for the African and Asian animal world, the Madagascar House, the Asian Garden, a free-range for brown bears of 1 ha, Lüftnerka, a 19th century farmhouse as well as the mysterious world of African nightlife .
