My First GOLOS Post! An Original Tune, Plus an Introduction of Sorts!
I've been posting on Steemit
and now Hive for a long time, but for some reason, I never set up a GOLOS account, so I figured today would be the day! I'm a big Splinterlands fan, so you may see some posts about the game here, along with original music, perhaps some photos of my cats, and other random things! I figured I'd start with some original music, a random song idea from the other night, so here we go!
I recently downloaded a bunch of
free sample packs from 'Epic Sound Effects', which include a whole bunch of accents, hits, swells, wooshes, and all kinds of other stuff for Soundtrack scoring. However, they're also great for music, of course, so I started incorporating some of them into some drum racks, and writing songs around them. This song also uses a lot of sounds from the 'Granular Whalesong' library from Spitfire Audio's LABS, which I highly recommend for any musicians and producers. They offer a TON of a free instrument packs, ranging from experimental weirdness, to orchestral strings, guitars, and everything between.
Listen to Projection Two here.
The 3 tracks that I started with
are all grouped together at the top, and all use various sounds from the Whalesong set, providing a constant droning in the background for most of the song. It's going to be a bit difficult to go through track by track here, as some of them are doing tiny little things that just contribute to the whole, but I figured I'd just outline the important stuff. There are two basic sections, the A section (in Blue in Track 2) and the B section (in Pink in Track 2). The B section is where things get heavier, when the drum beat comes in, and a bunch of other tracks are added to fill things up.
Track 10, Piano, B section.
Track 10 was a later addition,
and provides a little piano part. Over the B section, it outlines a general chord movement of i, III, Vi, v, but over the A section, it gets much more random, sort of just floating around and providing little accents throughout. Track 16 is a string swell, which just adds a C, Ab and G over the B section. Lastly, we have Track 18, which adds a distorted bass guitar over the B section, mostly sticking to root notes again, but starting on a B and sliding up to a C, giving it a temporary little suspension.
