DEVELOPING THE DECENTRALIZED APPLICATIONS WITH CARTESI

Cartesi is the latest solution for deploying and develop decentralized applications (DApp). DApps developed with Cartesi are characteristically scalable with hybrid capabilities. It means they comprise of blockchain as well as off-chain elements.

The on-chain computation networks have always been limited by lesser scalability and reproducibility capabilities. Independently these have been improved, within blockchains, but one always lacking the other. The consensus algorithms are rendered ineffective by the redundant system of permanent storage and constant multiple validations and verifications. The blockchains following this trend are not highly scalable. For many blockchains, if a smart agreement is designed, the pattern of variations is not defined and decided upon. So most of the existing blockchain models are not reproducible. Some have tried implementing virtual machines, but they are domain-specific, lacking some essential features required in such systems.

Cartesi solves these issues with the innate ability to work decentralized and off-chain. This innovative platform is there to deliver the latest highly scalable system for deploying decentralized applications.

The Cartesi Nodes are the network of the off-chain element of the DApp. It consists of Native and Reproducible computations, which are the modalities of the Cartesi Nodes. The host operating system runs the Native computations directly, with access to the full processing power of the node, but with no capability of replicating. The Reproducible computations are operated by the Cartesi Nodes within the Cartesi Machines. These are independent Linux systems, working on the established RISC-V structure. The host interface helps in letting the nodes with the Cartesi Machines.

The off-chain computations in the blockchain system are reproducible and can be defined by a Cartesi Decentralized Application. The function of Cartesi Nodes is to execute these defined computations off-chain. The nodes can be designed to deliver results or verifications. This way the disputes are minimized in the blockchain system, decreasing the costs and making it effective. If there is a dispute, the settlement expense is calculated for the storage and the time taken to resolve it. This makes Cartesi a win-win situation between the conventional world of computers and the next generation smart contracts.

In addition to scalability, shifting the computations off-chain not only helps with scalability but also empowers the developers with recognizable software, tools, languages, and services. Cartesi Machines have the capability of making the DApps more transferrable among discrete blockchain platforms, by setting all the complicated logic apart into off-chain computations. The creation of these computations is with the use of the primary features from many blockchains.

Cartesi network keeps the Cartesi Nodes functioning on the Cartesi Machines, which are reproducible. The computations designed and run on these machines are verifiable and large in scale. The dual-layered platform of Cartesi makes it simpler for implementing these highly complex and verifiable computations in the smart contracts. These computations are based on the battle-tested fundamentals of the blockchain, that keep the entities involved from facing disputes. The Linux operating system provides the ecosystem that these computations require. They may be operated natively or internally in the Cartesi Machines.
