XCH4NGE is Global
It’s just getting into the end of February, and it’s already been a busy year for us! XCH4NGE is now available in 241 countries worldwide with 18 different payment methods. As if that’s not enough, we’ll be complementing our expansion by adding an additional 5 currencies to our selection in March.
When we started XCH4NGE, our goal was to allow users to spend their cryptocurrency as exactly that; currency. We still strongly believe in that goal to this day, and we believe that our global expansion will allow us to promote this in the countries that need it the most. In nations with out of control inflation, cryptocurrency can provide real-world utility. South America is a great example, where Bitcoin trading volumes have increased to all-time highs due to weakening national currencies and political instability.
Looking at the state of crypto adoption, it became clear that the top priority should be increasing access to cryptocurrency where it’s needed (and used) most. Making our platform available worldwide was the first step.
Increasing Access
One issue faced by people around the world is obtaining official identification. An estimated 1.1 billion people worldwide cannot officially prove their identity, according to the 2017 update of the World Bank’s Identification for Development (ID4D) Global Dataset.
These uncounted people are often unable to access healthcare, education, and essential services such as banking and finance. Cryptocurrency can be a powerful tool for the financial liberation of these underbanked people, but only if they have the means to utilise it. As such, we have introduced two levels of user; Basic and XCH4NGE Verified. Users will now only need basic contact and personal information to get started, with the option to verify themselves for increased credibility and trust. XCH4NGE Admin will be on hand in case of a dispute, but users will be free to choose their preferred level of verification when they buy cryptocurrency.
Payments
When XCH4NGE launched, the only method of payment supported was direct bank transfers. While this was fine in the UK, we needed to think bigger for our global roll-out. To that end, we’re providing increased flexibility for all users with the addition of 18 payment methods, including WeChat, AliPay, cash, and more.
Currencies
Over the last two years, the number of cryptoassets on the market has exploded. While some have crashed and burned, some have impressed, building infrastructure, use cases, and building partnerships in the bear market. Bitcoin may still be king in terms of market cap, but asset diversity has never been higher.
That’s why XCH4NGE will be adding five new assets to our platform in the coming weeks. We will be looking closely at adding further assets, including seriously listening to community requests. In time, we hope to offer one of the widest selections available on the P2P market. Keep an eye on our Twitter for more information on our additions.
The Future
We hope to continue bringing utility to the cryptocurrency industry, with our application for a digital banking license in progress with the FCA. We will be building a crypto and fiat banking app, where you can manage all of your funds, side by side. Buy or sell, pay or save, all in one app. While initially limited to the UK, we plan to expand this service to Europe and beyond as soon as possible.
