Aquilegia ( columbine) is a genus of about 60-70 species of perennial plants . The name Aquilegia is derived from the Latin word for eagle (aquila), because the shape of the flower petals which resemble an eagle's claw.

Aquilegia grows spontaneously but of course, it is their cultivation as an ornamental plant that has made them very famous. Their attitude is very delicate and pastel colors and shape make this flower much appreciated in the composition of elegant corners of the gardens.
