Building a Great Team- The Pizza Rule
“If you can’t feed a team with two pizzas, it’s too large.”
-Jeff Bezos
Jeff Bezos of Amazon is known for his frugal and efficient vision.
When selecting a team, you can make two rudimentary mistakes- you made the team too big, or you made it too small. When selecting a team, focus on the essential business process you will support and aim to build a lean and efficient team.
Think of team building like selecting a sports team. You have to keep your teams lean. Define the busuiness process you need to buffer and select a "dream team". Choose a project manager, analyst, specialists and compliance. A basketball team with 5-players that works well together is much more effective than a 10-man team of weak-performers.
